At any given time, there are nearly 127,000 children in the United States waiting to be adopted.
That's more people than the entire city of Topeka, Kan.
Judy Butts, franchise owner of SeaMaster Cruises in Canyon Country, is joining forces with a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization to start a pajama drive for the thousands of U.S. children who previously may not have known the comforts of a cozy pair of pajamas. It's called the Pajama Program.
Butts, along with a team of several other SeaMaster Cruises franchise owners, have set a goal of collecting 100 pairs of pajamas. All donations will be delivered to the nearest Pajama Program chapter in the Los Angeles area.
Santa Clarita area residents are invited to donate new pajamas or make a monetary contribution, which will strictly be used to purchase new pajamas, which will then given to children's centers, hospitals and emergency facilities through the Pajama Program.
"I'm in the business of helping travel dreams come true, but it's my hope that our efforts will help area children in need sleep a little better and even do some dreaming of their own," said Butts. "I chose to focus some of my charitable efforts this year on the Pajama Program because it gives directly back to children in local communities, and provides them with a tangible item that will immediately provide comfort to them in an otherwise unfortunate and even painful situation."
