The beauty of Death Valley, California
Contributed by: Julian Nguyen on 1/3/2008

Death Valley, about six hours from Los Angeles, is a beautiful place to visit for it is truly an amazing natural wonder.

Sand dunes are well known in Death Valley. These giant dunes, where the peak is as high as 150 feet, are fun to explore by foot.

The "Badwater" basin, at 282 feet below sea level, is the lowest point in North America. This area is filled with crystallized salt as far as the eye can see. There is a seven-mile-long "Artist's Drive," where the sides of the mountains are pink, green, purple, brown. At "Artist's Palette," the view and the colors on the rocks are as spectacular as a painting.

In addition, there are canyons tourists can actually walk in and admire the works of nature up close.

Among with these wonders, Death Valley has many more.

Since the temperature in Death Valley could reach 120 degrees in the summer, winter visits seem ideal.
