Five hundred feet is not enough for notification

It was with great surprise, anger and then sadness that I recently found out about the proposed construction of affordable multi-family and senior housing project at 10240 Sepulveda Blvd., Mission Hills, formerly known as the Superior Car Mart.
The traffic on Sepulveda Boulevard and Devonshire Street is already almost unbearable. Building a four-story housing project would only increase traffic congestion.
Even more preposterous is the fact that one of the entrances to the housing project would include Halbrent Avenue and Tuba Street.
Tuba, being a narrow street, can only accommodate one car at a time whenever cars are parked on either side.Residents livingwithin 500 feet of the proposed project were supposedly notified of the plan, yet many said they did not receive notification.
Furthermore, it is my belief that 500 feet is not enough. Everyone who lives in Mission Hills should be notified of the proposed construction since it would affect the entire community, including schools.
If this project is approved by City Council members without the approval of the community, it will send a message to companies who want to gain tax credits on the backs of taxpayers that they can build anything, regardless of what the people who actually live and work here want.
