Our country is going to pot. People are out of work. People are out of their homes. Farm lands are flooded which is going to raise the prices of food for everybody. Fires in California are costing the state a fortune to fight in terms of dollars and human life. We don't have decent health care for the masses in California, let alone the entire country. Our troops in Iraq are fighting with outdated equipment, ineffective equipment, and in some cases no equipment at all. I recall not too long ago mothers raised money to send soldiers bullet proof vests and other essential equipment not provided by the military. But we can spend millions of dollars for "STUDIES" on how to solve our problems instead of putting that money to use in a common sense way. The Govenor, who originallly campaigned on protecting education raided the lottery fund which was set aside for schools and continues to make cuts in education. Then Sacramento cannot understand why we have a gang problem and a teen drug crisis in this state.
It is my understanding from reading the newspaper and watching the news that Iraq has made over 7 billion dollars at least in the recent past on their sale of oill, which oil fields I might add are being protected by our men and women of the military stationed there.
WHY ISN'T IRAQ PAYING FOR IT'S OWN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE NOW THAT THEY HAVE A SURPLUS? Wouldn't it be nice to have some of that oil money to help the United States and our allies by way of properly outfitting our troops and using the money for programs at home? We are not headed for a recession. We are headed for a depression. Are our leaders so blind that they cannot see that? McCain's big soultion is to drill off the coast of California and the Alaskan sanctuaries for oil so PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO DRIVE TO THE BEACH! What beaches are we going to leave to our children with oil platforms and you know it will happen, oil spills in Malibu and other coastal cities. Obama wants to take the tax breaks of big companies away and start having them pay their fair share.
I know I sound upset in this letter. But when I have to charge food towards the end of the month, who cares that my credit card balance is going out the roof? And I am not talking about steak and lobster. I am talking about milk, eggs and bread. Who in government cares that the police station by my house sits fenced up even though it is ready to go when my city has one of the most dangerous gangs in it, and when at midnight when I am out looking for my cat I see groups of young men wandering around my street? I can't afford to drive anywhere. When I go out my errands have to be carefully planned so that I get as much done in as short a distance and time as possible. Run the air conditioner in my car? You have to be kidding.
Obama is our only hope. He may be young but he has the courage to say, wait a minute that is not right. We need to do something about it. I support him, but unfortunately I cannot afford a campaign button. I will make a sign and pin it to my shirt. Let's clean out the trash and give what appears to be an honest and forthright person a chance. It can't be any worse of four more years of Bush, aka McCain.

Yes you are STEAMING...and isn't it great we have a place to vent? And besides, I agree with you!...so you've done it for me too. But...do we really BELIEVE that things will change? We can only hope...
