Chatsworth seniors adapt to changes
Contributed by: Virginia Watson on 3/9/2008

Chatsworth seniors responded to the news that a senior program was opening up at Chatsworth Park South, 22360 Devonshire St., last September and began taking part in the activities.

Exercise was a popular event with chair exercises and line dancing sessions filling fast. The morning coffee-and-conversation group proved successful and brought out many new faces.

The program continued to attract seniors amd finally reached the numbers to have the city department of recreation and parks' lunch program two days a week.

Then the unexpected! Chatsworth Park South was suddenly and officially closedbecause of environmental problems. All activitiy ceased and seniors patiently waited for the problems to be solved. That was February 15th.

The park is still closed, but an interim program has been set up at Mason Recreation Center, 10500 Mason Ave,, for 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, and Wednesday, March. 12.

In addition, a trip to the Griffith Park Observatory has been set up for Thursday, March 20. Seniors will board the bus at Chatsworth Park North, at Farralone Avenue and Chatsworth Street, at 11 a.m. and return at 4:15 p.m.

For reservations or details about the trip, call Jeanie at 818-341-6595 or 818-998-6377.
