L.A. Animal Services will hold an Adopt-A-Thon from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, July 19, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m.Sunday, July 20.

There will be 60 percent savings off regular adoption fees.

Visit an Animal Care Center this weekend and adopt your new best friend!

This event is in response to the extraordinary influx of animals into the city's six Animal Care Centers as a result of the tragic housing crisis in L.A., combined with animals lost during recent Fourth of July celebrations and the typically high volume of animal intakes during the summer.

Dogs and cats will be available for adoption at an unprecedented low price of $43 for a dog and $28 for a cat.

These low adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, vaccinations and a one-year license for dogs.

In the Valley, the Adopt-A-Thon will be held at the East Valley Animal Care Center, 14409 Vanowen St., Van Nuys, and the West Valley Animal Care Center, 20655 Plummer St., Chatsworth.
