Small World Christian Preschool in Sunland, now in its 26th year, is accepting applications for its preschool classes for the 2008-09 school year.
Small World is located at 10438 Oro Vista Ave. in Sunland. It is well known for its half-day enrichment programs.
"We have a few openings for our two-and three-day classes," said Director
Lynda Mlynar
. "Our classes are usually full, so I encourage interested parents to register as early as possible."
The nonprofit school offers the lowest tuition rates in the San Fernando Valley, thanks to support from families in the community.
"Once a child becomes part of the Small World family, we do everything in our power to make sure that they can continue their experience at Small World," Mlynar said. "While the school prepares children for kindergarten emotionally, academically and socially, it truly focuses on each child's uniqueness."
Daily activities include small-group learning time, time with God, indoor activities, outdoor experiences and music and movement.
"Parents have told me that some of their greatest memories are of our performances, and our field trips to places like the dentist, the fire department, Pizza Hut, the veterinarian and visits from specials guests," said Mlynar. "My personal favorite is when we culminate our field trip unit with a community service project where the kids do things to help those who need it most. Last year, we teamed up with San Fernando Rescue Mission and the children helped prepare a hot meal for the homeless."
"One of the things we emphasize is making the children aware of their community and try to help them see their part in the world," Mlynar said.
