I try to read the newspaper everyday. I read the "Daily News." I read an article today that really bothered me.
Let me explain. It was an article on page A8 by
Liz Sidoti
of "The Associated Press." The title of the article was "Will daughter's pregnancy help or hurt?"
As far as the family business of the 17-year-old minor's pregnancy, I agree with
Barack Obama
, who was quoted in the article as saying, "I think people's families are off limits and people's children are especially off limits."
It wasn't even the fact that a long time ago
Sarah Palin
's husband got a DUI.
Who cares? What bothered me was this, and I quote: "In speaking of an investigation going on in the great state of Alaska about Sarah Palin while she was governor. As for the Alaska probe, a Republican-dominated legislative committee is investigating whether Palin dismissed Public Safety Commissioner
Walt Monegan
after he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced Palin's sister."
When I read that all I could think was, come on, what was
John McCain
thinking? And let's say for some far stretch of the imagination that he didn't know. Well now we know! Is this the kind of person we want a heart beat away from the Presidency of the United States of America? I don't think so.
And lastly in the paper on the same date, on page A11, under the COMMENT section, there is an article by
Ruben Navarrette
, titled "McCain lets others dull his strength."
Mr. Navarrette states, and I quote: ". . . McCain is right - and Obama is wrong - on reforming education, expanding trade, lowering taxes, fixing Social Security and other matters. Any day that this campaign is about issues is a good day for McCain."
What Navarrette fails to mention is that McCain voted with President Bush at least 90 percent of the time and look where we are now. What Navarrette fails to mention is that McCain stated after the primaries were over that maybe he didn't understand the economy as well as he should. I think any day that is about the issues is a bad day for McCain.
He would represent four to eight more years of Bush policy in the White House, with a vice president, a heart beat away from the Presidency, who allegedly fires people who won't fire people who divorce her sister.
All I can say to all this is "What is going on?"
Again, as I try to express in all my comments, I know that there are people who are going to disagree with me. I thank you for allowing me to express my opinion and for us all being Americans who live in what will surely be again the best country in the world if we make the right choice at the polls in November.
Thank you for letting me express myself again to you.
