Employees, directors and customers of Encino-based California United Bank (CUB) stuffed a school bus full of supplies for students at Canoga Park High School on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 9, as part of the bank's continuing program of supporting the communities in which it does business, according to
Terry Stevens
of Cooper Communications.
Supplies included a broad range of needed items, from rulers to batteries, and from erasers to paper goods. Recycled computers, monitors, printers and copiers will also be included.
"We saw a need for the community to support the school and its students - many of whom can't afford some of the supplies necessary to help further their education - and we wanted to help," said
Anne Williams
, executive vice president and COO of the bank. "Our incredibly community-spirited employees have spearheaded this project, and we thank them for their dedication to improving local schools in this way."
Los Angeles City Councilmember
Dennis Zine
, whose district includes Canoga Park High School, was part of the ceremonies. Accepting the supplies to be allocated to teachers and students were principal

, vice principal

and LAUSD School Board Member

According to project coordinator
Shawndra Rutledge
of CUB, tax-deductible monetary contributions are also being sought for use in the purchase of supplies for the high school.
Recycled computers and other equipment will also be accepted.
