Wells Fargo and Westfield go the extra mile
Contributed by: Ed Crowe on 8/6/2008

Once again, Wells Fargo Bank and Westfield Topanga will go the extra mile for the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Wells Fargo Bank as the Official Bank Sponsor and Westfield as the Official Presenter of the "Mile of Quarters" fundraising event on Sept. 20.

Vince Liuzzi, the bank's senior vice president and regional president, said, "The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley is exactly the kind of organization we want to support; it not only improves our community today, but lays the groundwork for a better community tomorrow."

"Westfield is proud to continue our support of the Boys & Girls of the West Valley. We were extremelly excited about this unique and interactive event, which provides a great opportunity for members of our community to make a personal donation to the club," said Sarah Richardson, marketing director of Westfield Topanga and Promenade.

The entire Valley community is invited to participate. Get your kids, grandkids and neighbors and save all your quarters to come to Westfield Topanga on Saturday, Sept. 20.

You can have fun laying out your quarters to help raise a "Mile of Quarters" to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Last year, the event raised over $17,000 for the kids. For sponsorship opportunities, contact Jan Sobel at 818-610-1054.

The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley was founded in 1995 as a response to the local need for safe, healthy and productive activities for youth during non-school hours.

Three years ago, the club moved into its current permanent facility in Canoga Park, which was recently renovated.

There are more than 1,500 members of the club, and more than 400 youngsters take part in its programs each day.

In addition to approximately 150 children provided after-school activities at its main site, the club also provides programs for young people at Blythe and Reseda elementary schools, Canoga Park High School and Tierra del Sol.

The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley is located at 7245 Remmet Ave. in Old Town Canoga Park.
