Foundation donors preview 'The Jewish Americans'
Contributed by: Candice Jacobson on 11/6/2007

Nearly 200 donors of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation) recently attended a preview screening of Sherman Oaks-based Jewish Television Network's (JTN) miniseries, "The Jewish Americans," which will be broadcast on PBS in January 2008.

Among those in attendance at The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills were Encino resident Jay Sanderson, JTN chief executive officer and executive producer; Cathy Siegel Weiss, The Foundation's chair; and Valley Glen resident Marvin I. Schotland, The Foundation's president and chief executive officer.

The Foundation, a long-time supporter of JTN, helped make the documentary possible with initial seed funding of $200,000 from the Harry and Belle Krupnick Endowment.

"The Jewish Americans" is a six-hour series which follows 350 years of Jewish-American history, from the first settlement in the 17th century to the present, and explores the experience of immigration and assimilation.

Liev Schreiber narrates.

The documentary will air on PBS stations over consecutive Wednesday evenings Jan. 9, 16 and 23, 2008.
