Mierop wins honors and scholarship

On June 9, Westin Mierop will graduate from Golden Valley Charter School. Westin is a dedicated Simi Valley student and is involved in many extra-curricular activities. He played the trumpet in band and participated in several choirs. Westin is still currently involved in swing dance club at Moorpark College.
Westin excels in computer science and mathematics, and took full advantage of tuition-free classes at Moorpark College while in high school. His first choice for college was to attend DeVry University in Sherman Oaks. Westin works at Starbucks in Simi Valley.
Westin was honored with the "Community Scholar Award, the "Dean Scholarship" and the very prestigious "Presidential Scholarship Award" for DeVry University. The presentation for the "Presidential Scholarship will be given by Rubin Bryant during the graduation ceremony for Golden Valley High School at Mesa Union School in Somis, California. Most of Westin's family is from the Conejo Valley area.
Westin is currently enrolled to begin DeVry in July, 2007.
