Lake View Terrace resident turns 87

Marguerite Jennings of Lake View Terrace, celebrated her 87th birthday on Monday, Jan. 1.

The 30-year valley resident, enjoyed a nice dinner with her good neighbor Mrs. Ethel May and her daughter. Jennings says May has always been very nice to her since Jennings moved into the neighborhood.

Jennings is a regular at the Alicia Broadous-Duncan Multipurpose Senior Center in Pacoima, and has been going there about 7-8 years. She says the senior center always gives her something to do and attends about 4-5 days a week.

"We excercise, play bingo and have lunch with friends," Jennings said.

She also says the senior center serves as a good setting to meet new people.

Back at home, Jennings lives by herself. To pass the time, she has hobbies such as putting puzzles together and word searches.

On Sundays, shes likes to go out to lunch with her friend Annie Mingo.

Jennings is a Sandusky, Ohio native, but as a single woman in 1961, she moved to Los Angeles after deciding she needed a change of scenery.
