She may very well be Engelbert Humperdinck's oldest fan. Madeline Perry recently turned 100 years old and one of her hobbies is to travel to Las Vegas and Laughlin to see the famous crooner.
When she turned 95, Perry went on one of her trips with a group of seniors to Laughlin to see Humperdinck perform. Several of her nieces and their spouses met up with her at the concert. They waited for him backstage after the show. When he emerged, the group got his attention and he came over. He met Perry and gave her, as she describes it, " a "juicy kiss."
Perry was born Aug. 9, 1906, in Chicago. She married Ross Perry in 1927. They had two children, Marion and Frank. In 1955, they moved to Van Nuys.
Her husband died in 1963 and Perry then moved to Reseda. In 2005, she moved to Agoura Hills Senior Retreat, where she lives today.
After the her husband died, Perry worked for two years, caring for the children of a local doctor.
She has two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
To celebrate her 100 th birthday, Perry's children held a party at a restaurant in Simi Valley, attended by 90 relatives and friends.
Perry said her secret to a long life is her can-do attitude and upbeat personality.
