Actor, Tony Danza presented two Memorial Scholarships totaling $6,000 to
Tiffany Kennedy and Christian Rosales on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Taft High School Senior Awards Ceremony. Tiffany Kennedy will be attending Cal State Northridge and Christian Rosales will be attending Santa Monica City College in the fall.

This was the 15th Anniversary of the Memorial Scholarship founded by Valley Village resident Suzanne Lewis in memory of Lamoun Thames, a Taft High School student and classmate of Lewis' daughter who was stabbed to death by a gang member while waiting for a bus at Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue, August 1992 . The scholarship is funded by Tony Danza.

A total of 30 Taft seniors have been helped out with college aid by the Lamoun Thames Memorial Scholarships.

"It is one of the things I am most proud of. The tree we planted in the Senior Quad 15 years ago in Lamoun's honor stands tall and strong", said Suzanne Lewis.

Thames' mother, Ora Denise Rogers, sister, Shanise Pugh, brother-in-law, Lamar Pugh, neice Hannah Pugh and Michael Gregory were in attendance.
