Nick and Rose Valento celebrate 65th anniversary

The years may come and go, but love is eternal!

Nick and Rose Valento of Panorama City know this for a fact. The couple celebrated their 65th anniversary with a party attended by 75 guests at Bernardi's Multipurpose Center in Van Nuys.

A very special guest, Julia (Trentadue) Lossin of Westminister, the maid of honor in their wedding, was also there. Rose and Julia have been friends since they were little girls growing up in Chicago.

The couple was married Aug. 21, 1943, at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Chicago, while Nick was serving in the Army.

Nick retired in 1987 after working 40 years at General Motors in Van Nuys. They are the loving and devoted parents of the late Nick J. Valento of Dublin, Ohio, Rosemary Passananti of Oak Lawn, Ill., and Raymond Valento of Austell, Ga. They have fivegrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

This year, they attended the March wedding of granddaughter Amy to David Green in Marietta, Ga., and the May high school graduation of great-grandson Brandon in Oak Lawn, Ill.

Nick and Rose are lifelong members of Our Lady of Peace Church in North Hills. Another long-time friend, retired Rev. Ignatius Militello blessed the happy couple on their special event.

Asked how they managed to stay together all these years, their reply was "love, trust, compatibility and never taking vacations alone."

They definitely have lived with a heart full of dreams, loved from the depth of their souls and embraced every moment of laughter. We, as their children, are so fortunate to have been raised by such wonderful parents!

Catering was provided by San Carlo Deli in Chatsworth and musical entertainment was supplied by longtime friend Tony Giannini.

Happy 65th anniversary, Mom & Dad, we love you!
