Shaws celebrating 50 years of marriage

Ron and Joan Shaw of Sylmar recently celebrated their 50-year wedding anniversary!

Friends and family - approximately 150 people - gathered to honor them through the sharing of a meal, pictures, words and reflections.

The party was held in the Friendship Hall of the United Methodist Church of San Fernando, where the couple was married on Nov. 29, 1957.

The Shaws reside in Sylmar in their home of 50 years. Both Ron and Joan are active members of the San Fernando United Methodist Church and active in the community.

Their daughter, Laura, her husband, Terry, their son, Lance, and granddaughter, Chloe, were among the family gathered from throughout the United States to celebrate the Shaws' golden anniversary.

When asked the secret to the longevity of their marriage, they attributed it to "sharing life with family and friends, faith in God, good communication and lots of humor!"
