In 1945,
Marilyn Pellegrini
and
Rudy C'Dealva
met in post-WWII Chicago, where they had grown up.
They dated for several years and their love for each other grew and grew. They married on April 3, 1948, at St. Mel Church in Chicago.
Living with her parents in an old, brownstone building, they started their lives together.
In August 1951, their first daughter,
Faith
, was born.
In 1953, they packed up an old Dodge and headed off to California.
Three years later, another daughter,
Hope
, was born in January 1956. Then another daughter,
Glory
, in March of 1960. Finally, their only boy,
Rudy Jr
. was born in 1961.
Rudy and Marilyn worked hard to build a new home, raise their family and help build their new church, St. Mel in Woodland Hills. All of the kids attended school there.
Rudy worked at Rocketdyne steadily and retired after 35 years.
Marilyn raised the kids and worked at several different firms over the years.
The C'Dealvas are long-time Valley residents.
Today, the C'Dealva family (including spouses) has grown to 10, with 5 grandchildren. All of them living in various parts of Southern California.
Rudy andMarilyn are very active in the St. Mel Monday Adult Club and the American Legion. And if you mention the word "travel," you've got their attention, as they have traveled around the world.
The best part, is even after 60 years you can still see the way they look at each other. It's almost like Chicago 1945.
Congratulations Mom and Dad!
