Bernie and Toby Berman will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on March 22. The couple have two children and have been residents of North Hollywood for over 40 years.

Bernie's family moved to Southern California from New York. Bernie graduated from Manuel Arts High School, and worked to start college. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in Industrial Engineering.

He held positions in computer manufacturing, medical technology, accounting and financial services and had his own business consulting practice. He continues to work in the financial field helping small businesses and families.

Toby's family moved to Southern California from Ohio when she was 4 years old. She graduated from North Hollywood High School and then went to Los Angeles City College, majoring in secretarial sciences.

She has worked in the business sector since then and in 1972, changed her career to the medical field, where she developed an expertise in medical billing and worked her way up to office manager.

The two met as teenagers at a youth dance at Toby's parent's home in North Hollywood in 1955 and were engaged in 1956. They tied the knot at the Valley Colonial House on Whittset and Riverside, which is now the home of Val Surf.

Toby is a great cook and enjoys celebrating the holidays by preparing her special dishes. Bernie enjoys teaching and photography.

Both are very active in community charity fundraisers and enjoy traveling around the country seeing members of their families and visiting new places.
