On Thursday, May 8, Councilman
Dennis P. Zine
was a guest at Welby Way Elementary School's Career Day in West Hills.
The fourth-grade children greeted the Councilman with handmade masks of Zine's face created by
Cara Goldman
, one of the student's parents and council aide for Councilman Zine.
The children asked many questions about his career as both a Los Angeles police officer and as a Los Angeles City Councilman.
As part of his presentation, Zine showed the children the tools of his trade and had them try on a bullet-proof vest, a fire jacket and a helmet. They also got to listen to a working LAPD radio, which was the hit of the morning.
Throughout the entertaining presentation, Councilman Zine made a point to encourage the students to continue their education by pursuing college.
At the end of the presentation, the children gathered around the Councilman so he could autograph their masks for them. Everyone thanked him and was very grateful for making their Career Day such a special event.
Students, parents, and staff at Welby Way Elementary School are looking forward to next year's Career Day.
