City to Sea... The mountains around us.

Those of us lucky enough to live in this beautiful place called Calabasas are surrounded by one of the least known yet most highly recognized mountain ranges in the world. Don't believe me? Think about it. How many car commercials have you seen with the dramatic meeting of mountain and sea that was shot right on PCH? How many times has a movie or TV show become just a little less believable when they try to pass Malibu Creek State Park off as Italy or the south of France? The Santa Monica Mountains, stretching from city to sea have been many places to many people. For a lucky few like me they've been home and the backdrop to most of my life and memories.
A Range on the Edge; The Santa Monica Mountains is due to be published in fall 2006. With photography by Tom Gamache (yes, my father) and text by Matthew Jaffe, Sunset Magazine bureau chief, this book will illustrate the long history and natural beauty of the place we are lucky to call home.
