Chatsworth Museum will be open this Sunday
Contributed by: Virginia Watson on 6/26/2007

The Chatsworth Museum at The Homestead Acre, 10385 Shadow Oak Drive, will be open for tours from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 1.

The Homestead Acre is within Chatsworth Park South at the west end of Devonshire Street. There is no charge and plenty of free parking.

Docents from the Chatsworth Historical Society will give guided tours of the museum, the circa 1911 redwood bungalow and the lovely gardens with flowers and fruit trees.

Settled in 1886 by James David and Rhoda Jane Hill, the one and one-third acre compound is all that is left of what was once a 230-acre ranch.

Owned by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, the Chatsworth Historical Society is Conservator and maintains the property.
