There is a museum near the entrance to Chatsworth Park South and it will be open for tours from 1-4 p.m. this Sunday afternoon June 3rd. The actual address is 10385 Shadow Oak Drive and it is located at the first stop sign within the park.
There is plenty of free parking and lots of local history pictured and interpreted by trained docents.
The Homestead Acre, as it is called, is owned by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks and is all that is left of what was once a 230-acre ranch, settled by James David and Rhoda Jane Hill in 1886.
The Chatsworth Historical Society is Conservator of the historic monument and arranges for Sunday tours. For more information call (818) 341-3053.
