The Chatsworth Museum has an abundance of pictures on display, showing the people who settled the area andof historiceventsin the Northwest corner of the Valley.

The public is invited to enjoy guided tours from 1-4 p.m. Sunday (May 6) in the museum at The Homestead Acre, 10385 Shadow Oak Drive, within Chatsworth Park South at the west end of Devonshire Street.

There is no charge and plenty of free parking. The circa 1911-built redwood bungalow will be open. The large snowball bush in the gardens is just starting to bloom and the roses and other flowers are responding to the sunshine in clusters of color.

"The Acre" as it is familiarly known to locals, is all that is left of a once
230-acre ranch settled in 1886 by James David and Rhoda Jane Hill.

Tours are provided by the Chatsworth Historical Society, Conservators of The Homestead Acre. The property is owned by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks. For more information call (818) 341-3053.
