DWP SSC Rates going up- Save $ with this Tip

Spring is here and summer is around the corner. It's going to get hot and your going to use more water. Water and sewer rates are going up July 1st. You can save on your LADWP water bill two ways. The 1st tier is based on your zip code and lot size. You pay for this if you use your allocation or not. If you use more than your allocation then you pay 2nd tier with a higher rate.
First Tip
If you are paying for second tier perhaps you are over watering or wasting water by not having your sprinkler heads adjusted to land on the grass instead of the road or walkways. It is best to water in the early morning one hour before sunrise and again in the evenings one hour after sunset. Your timers should be set in the winter for two minutes in the AM and two minutes in the PM. Do this every other day. When it starts to warm up early spring raise the minutes to three minutes in the AM and three minutes in the PM. If it is getting hotter then increase one minute as needed. The summer months should take max five minutes in the AM and five minutes in the PM. This will help you reduce 2nd tier water usage.
Second Tip
If your sewer service charges are over $45.00 consider installing a LADWP Sub Water Meter. California Utility Services 800-400-1727 is a private company that does it all for you.
