Judith Wilson designs suite for Greystone Mansion

Renowned Los Angeles Interior Designer Judith Wilson, of Encino, invited to design showcase room in the historic Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills

Prestigious home open for public display Nov. 7-17

Beverly Hills, CA, October 3, 2006 - Judith Wilson Interior Design Group, LLC announced recently that they have been selected by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) to create a showcase suite for one of Beverly Hills' most legendary historic landmarks: the Greystone Mansion.
Wilson's finished suite will be available for public display during the Beverly Hills Garden and Design Showcase. Guests are encouraged to participate in one of the elegant tours that have been scheduled for Nov. 7-17 between the hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The 16-acre estate dates back to 1928, when it was first occupied by the prominent Doheny Family. In 1976, the Greystone Mansion became an historical landmark and has since belonged to the City of Beverly Hills. Over the years, the mansion has served as a setting for film and television endeavors offering its lush landscapes and grandiose interiors for celebrity gatherings of all kinds.

Wilson is recognized for her elegant design and hands-on practice that includes providing clients with living spaces that flawlessly unites their individual personality and the essence of the building's history and architecture. The Greystone Mansion is no exception.
Wilson exemplifies her expertise in the late Mrs. Doheny's suite that she has entitled, "Hollywood Glamour." She custom designed a bed that reflects the period, designed drapery using the finest silks, satins and velvets and selected the most opulent antiques and crystals to recapture the lavish lifestyle that Doheny lived in when her estate was built. During the design process, Wilson has been especially conscious of retaining the history of Greystone Mansion in every detail of her work.


When asked what inspires her most about this project, Wilson shares that, "The history, the grandness and the architecture are to be celebrated. I am delighted to have been invited to design Mrs. Doheny's private suite. I just love the feeling of being in the mansion and with each visit; I get a better sense of the people who lived there."

From blueprints and space planning to custom cabinetry and drapery, Wilson leaves no detail untouched and ensures that her upscale designs are perfect for each project's specifications. A trained color specialist, she works with clients to match the right colors to fit their lifestyles. Wilson has designed extraordinary nurseries for children and fully equipped home theaters with state-of-the-art design and equipment to keep the guests captivated.

Wilson also designs a private line of custom furniture including: sofas and chairs, armoires, bedroom furniture, coffee tables and more. Customers use her firm's services for designing their entire home or simply come to her for one or two exclusive pieces of furniture. Judith Wilson lives in Encino and works in Studio City.

Biography

Ms. Wilson boasts an impressive list of accomplishments including a First Place design award for room presentation at the Los Angeles Decorating and Home Show and another First Place award from the city of Beverly Hills for window display designs. She was published in Designer Kitchen in a "Who's Who in Specialty Room Design" and was a contributing editor to both Art Gallery International and Interior Expressions magazine. Most recently, she was invited to participate on a prestigious team of top interior professionals that were selected to design a showcase room in the historical Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. The event will take place in November and is sure to draw sizeable crowds to view the spectacular home.

Wilson's brilliance in design is complemented by her unique ability to intimately acquaint herself with all of her client's needs and expectations. While educating them during the design process about everything from how to design the perfect country kitchen to advising when "Empty Nesters" can start updating their homes when their children are out of the house, she is completely hands on. Wilson has designed extraordinary nurseries for children and fully equipped home theaters with state-of-the-art design and equipment to keep the guests captivated.

Ms. Wilson's biggest thrill comes with the presentation of the finished home to her client. She loves to see their smiling faces and receive their follow up phone calls of appreciation for giving them the home of their dreams.

"My clients range from contemporary to traditional to Tuscan villa. Whether they need a home that reminds them of their recent vacation in Italy to the most modern space for entertaining 200 guests for cocktails, I work with them to translate their wish list into reality. I have designed open and bright spaces complete with patios overlooking all of Los Angeles and kitchens with plenty of light and customized counterspace for friends and family to congregate." says Wilson.

Wilson works closely with architects and contractors to create the best possible space for her clients. She has been called upon to advise programs at schools like UCLA where she has given lectures in areas such as: "Color Key and Color in Design," "Awareness for Earthquake Repairs," "Working with Contractors and Architects" and "Remodeling."

Wilson designs a private line of custom furniture including sofas, armoires, bedroom furniture, coffee tables and more. Customers use her firm's services for designing their entire home or simply come to her for one or two exclusive pieces of furniture.

In addition to home and furniture design, Wilson offers clients holiday home décor; she decorates Christmas trees, mantles, holiday dinner tables, staircases and even designs a lighting concept for her clients' outdoor trees. An expert event planner, she works with caterers, florists and sommeliers to create the perfect party.

A Los Angeles native, Wilson received training at the UCLA Interior Design Program. She is an active member of the Decorative Arts Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting galleries and museums, going to the symphony, playing golf, gardening and swimming.
