Come to the Annual Garden Festival at The Homestead Acre from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29.
Enjoy the green grass, beautiful trees and flowers, the hundreds of rose blossoms within Chatsworth Park South at the west end of Devonshire Street. The address is 10385 Shadow Oak Drive.
For a small donation you can spend the daystrolling around the 1.3 acre compound viewing the garden club displays, the Chatsworth Dance Centre's Polynesion Dance Review at 2 p.m., and touring the historic bungalow and museum. The white elephant booth is always fun to browse, you can learn origame, enjoy the colorful quilts, or visit with community groups.
For an extra $7 you can enjoy the fabulous Duchess of Devonshire's High Tea near the colorful rose gardens from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Susan Rios
will be there to sign her paintings sponsored by the Chatsworth Florist. And there is a bake sale, plants for sale, hot dogs and drinks, vendors and much more.
Plenty of free parking at the Chatsworth Depot and shuttle buses will bring patrons to and from the depot to the festival every 15 minutes.
The 1.3 acre historic property, settled in 1886 by
James David
and
Rhoda Jane Hill
, is owned by the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks with the Chatsworth Historical Society as Conservators. All proceeds from the event go to the upkeep of the Acre.
Donations are $4 for adults or seniors and $1 for children of 5 years and older.
