Learning English as a second language was so important in order to have the first Thanksgiving feast because if Squanto would not have been able to speak English, the pilgrims would not be able to communicate with the Native Americans. In our days, learning English is as important as IT was in that time. Learning English is perhaps the most important thing that the immigrant should do. But if we, the immigrant, don't have people who give us time and interest it would not be possible.

We are the present and past students from Rinaldi Adult School andwant to thank Mrs. Powers for giving us always her best. We really appreciate her teaching, help and the love that she always shows us. We thank God for these 24 years spent in helping immigrants to be successful in this wonderful country. She not only teaches English, she teaches us how to find the better way to insert us in the American society. Numerous lives have been touched by her amazing work. We are some of them.

Our society needs examples to follow. Mrs. Powers is an example among those who dedicate their lives to help people to be better person in the silence.
