Ceramic skulls define Day of the Dead exhibit

Ceramic Skulls play center stage at
Day of the Dead exhibit

Crewest Gallery'sthird annual celebration of Mexico's native traditional holiday, Day of the Dead, presents Topofthe Dome lll art exhibit opening Saturday, Nov. 4 from 5-9 p.m. at 110 Winston St., Downtown Los Angeles. Gallery Row's leading graffiti art gallery will feature 100 ceramic skulls sculpted by southern California artist Gregg Stone and hand painted by many of today's freshest artists.

In appropriate tradition, a portion of the gallery will be converted into a Day of the Dead Ofrenda (Altar) by Master artist Ofelia Esparza. The theme of Mrs. Esparza's altar will pay homage to fallen graffiti artists from the Los Angeles area. Participating artists in the exhibit include: Crol, Asylm, Dave Kawano, Man One, Erick Rodriguez, Liz McGrath, Siloette, Delae, Scribe, Sophia Pottish, Emi, Germs, Vyal, Evelina Sausina, Lesley Reppeteaux, Nathan Cartwright, OGAbel, John Gill, Jason Brunson, AaronJasinski, Unit, Joel "Rage-One" Garcia, Damon Robinson, Debbie De La Cruz, Claudia Galvan, Paulina Astete Granados, Patrick Martinez, Surge, Sherm, Make One, Werc, and many others.

During the monthly Downtown Artwalk on Nov. 9. Crewest Gallery Graffiti artist Vyal will be painting his trademark skulls and skeletons on canvas in part of the month long celebration exhibit. Show sponsors are Stickyricks.net and Tu Ciudad Los Angeles Magazine.
