Contributed by: Judith King on 11/28/2007

Yes, piles and piles of the white fluffy stuff will be available for kids and grown-ups alike to play in and sled on this Sunday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. at The Valley's Christmas Tree Lighting Spectacular in Van Nuys.

The event willtake place on Sherman Way between Kester and Van Nuys Boulevard.

With a delightful "Winter Qonderland" as its theme, the event also features a live Nativity, musical and orchestral performances, free hot chocolate, a magnificent 50-foot tree, a 5,000 toy giveaway, and much, much more.

Even Santa will make an appearance!

"The Valley's Christmas Tree Lighting Spectacular is a gift to the people of the San Fernando Valley," says Los Angeles Community Builders president Ross Bradder. "It is our second year producing the event and we invite the entire Southern California community to take pleasure in it. Last year, we hosted over 5,000 adults and children; this year, we hope to grow that number so that more people can enjoy the event and take pride in their community."

Councilmember Tony Cardenas will light the tree and singers Lillie Goodman, Gustavo Lima and other well-known music and local personalities will perform Christmas favorites.

The tree, which was brought down to Van Nuys from Oregon, will remain at the location for the entire Christmas season so commuters can enjoy its cheer.

The Valley's Christmas Tree Lighting event is produced by Los Angeles Community Builders Inc., in association with The Church On The Way in Van Nuys.
