Give Holiday Gifts from the Heart
Contributed by: Kellie Nicholson on 11/2/2007

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza or just the joy of the season, the holidays are a time to show appreciation to those in your life. Businesses send cards to loyal customers, we give special tokens to our romantic partners and we buy gifts for and send cards to friends and family.

Too often we get caught up in the flurry of activities around the holidays and forget that this is the time of year to express our love for others by giving from the heart. When choosing gifts this year, take time to make them personal. Make a friend a scrapbook, draw a picture of a time that you shared, write a poem about their good qualities or make a video that has meaning.

In the spirit of giving, many of us have found a way to give twice. Giving "green" or environmentally-friendly gifts are one way to show that you care, not only about the recipient, but also about our earth. Another trend is to purchase gift items that include a donation to a charity.

Cards With a Heart, a leader in fund raising for nonprofit organizations, offers holiday greeting cards from eInvite.com. With a selection of charitable institutions to support, each card has a message from one of the charities, like the Alzheimer's Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the American Heart Association and PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).

When you purchase these cards, a 40 percent donation will be presented to the participating charity of your choice in your honor, at no additional cost to you.

Additionally, Cards With a Heart offers greeting card variety packs designed by celebrities for the EBMRF (Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation) and clients of Integrated Rehabilitation Therapies, Inc. These delightful card sets make great holiday gifts and help the charities involved.

For those who would like to give gifts that show your support of a particular charity, you could buy one of the Cards With a Heart charity bracelets. They will let you design the bracelet from one of two styles with various other features.

For more information about charity cards and gifts from Cards With a Heart, visit their website at www.cardswithheart.org.

There is no better way to show that you care than by giving gifts from your heart.
