As WBI students know, earning their diplomas in Cosmetology mean long hours of preparation, study, dedication, and a commitment to their community, giving of their time and energy performing beauty services and participating in many different community events. On Friday, June 27th, WBI students went above and beyond the giving of their time and energy, also giving their own blood to a community cause.
Forty to fifty of our students participated, said WBI staff member Rachel Reynoso. "It's all about the blood shortages," she said, adding that both students and staff were helping out in this time of critical need by donating badly needed blood. All donations were being made in honor of patients at USC Medical Center and its nearby Norris Cancer Center, both located near downtown Los Angeles.
The blood drive continued throughout the day Friday using the Senior classroom, during both day and evening sessions, with four to five students or staff at a time giving blood. Representatives of the USC Blood Donor Center were on hand to administer the donation process, and to give out t-shirts to donors.
WBI is proud of its commitment to the community, and especially proud of all of its students and staff who participated in this important event.
