Summer swim lessons at Triunfo YMCA
Contributed by: Diane Rumbaugh on 6/19/2008

The Triunfo YMCA summer aquatics program is in full gear. Programs are available for all ages, ability levels and interests.

The programs offered include private swim lessons, group swim lessons, parent-tot classes, swim teams and junior lifeguards.

All swim programs are at Agoura High School's pool, 28545 W. Driver Ave., Agoura Hills.

Private swim lessons consist of four one-on-one lessons. Group lessons include eight lessons over a two-week period. Kids attending Triunfo YMCA day camps can participate in a swim lesson once a week for an additional $10.

"Kids need to be water safe," says Jenna Grossman, aquatics director at Triunfo YMCA. "Summer is the time to learn. Y swim classes are fun and motivating while kids learn important swimming and safety lessons."

The Triunfo Otters swim team will practice and compete this summer. All interested swimmers must try out and should be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke and 25 yards of breaststroke.

The Otters will compete in swim meets with other local YMCAs and in the Ventura County Swim Conference League.

Also offered through the Triunfo YMCA, is a junior lifeguards course where swimmers receive hands-on safety lessons in the pool and deck as well as classroom training based on the YMCA national lifeguard program.

The Triunfo YMCA serves Westlake Village, Oak Park and Agoura Hills.

For a full summer swim schedule, contact the Triunfo YMCA at 818-707-9622 or go to the Southeast Ventura County YMCA Web site, www.sevymcaorg.
