Owner
Leslie Maltz of Backyard Bootcamp has designed a unique program of varied and demanding workouts which challenge participants of all levels while providing a safe and supportive environment for adults.
Each month Maltz and instructor pal
Jesse Wright lead a group of bootcampers towards their own personal fitness goals. Participants maintain food journals and follow strict food guidelines designed by Hollywood's leading nutritional authority, Dr.
Tony Perrone.
Maltz's approach is to provide a fun outdoor adventure where students can tap into and explore their fitness abilities and overcome both mental and physical obstacles keeping them from their fitness desires.
Every workout is different and may include tug-o-war, relay races, team challenges, parachute pulls, ladder drills, bungee cords, obstacles, hurdles, free weights, resistance tubing, core stabilization, trail adventures, hill climbing, rope climbing, calisthenics and more.
Each participant is pre-screened prior to starting for any potential health risks. They receive their "before" photo, body fat composition results, free T-shirt and food journal.
Camp begins the next day at 6:15 a.m. and meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:15 a.m. at de Anza Park in Calabasas and also in Woodley Park in Encino.
Maltz can be heard this Sunday morning at 6 a.m. on KOST103.5 (Sunday Journal) and next Sunday at 11 p.m. on MYFM 104.3 talking with host,
Christine Martindale on childhood obesity. Next week Maltz will be discussing nutrition with Christine and Dr. Perrone.
