Contributed by: Zee Dankworth on 4/16/2008

If you have a loved one who suffers from a major mental illness, we are here to help!

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, San Fernando Valley, NAMI-SFV, is an all volunteer support group by and for families who are dealing with a loved one who suffers from a major mental illness.

Mental Illnesses are not caused by bad habits, bad childhood or bad parenting. They are biological brain disorders.

NAMI offers several support meetings each month and an expert speaker meeting, a lending library of books, videos, free pamphlet rack, and if you join the membership with small annual dues, you receive our bi-monthly newsletter to keep you updated on current happenings and latest research and many helpful resources.

When nobody else understands, NAMI family members do!

We offer a free 12-week education program covering the various aspects of serious mental illness and teaches skills for coping effectively.

Support groups are at various locations and on several evenings each week. There are even Spanish-speaking meetings available.

Please call to receive information at 818-994-6747.

You are not alone, come to a meeting. We can help!
