At a delightful luncheon on June 1, nine Sylmar High School students and 12 Los Angeles Mission College students were awarded scholarships totaling $14,000 by the Sylmar Woman's Club.

The event was held at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills.

Julia Kornstein of the L.A. Board of Education also awarded certificates to these students. Proud family members looked on as the celebrants received their certificates of achievement.

Sylmar High winners: Whitney Cohen, David Garcia, David Gonzales, Cazandra Ruvacaba, Alexis Meza, Lizabeth Ramirez-Lozover, Shirleen Solares, Leslie Valencia and Christian Zarate

L.A. Mission College winners: Christina Beltran, Jacqueline Blevons, Siomara Calixtro, Elsa Cotton, Christian Garcia, Maria Hernandez, Renuka Karunatilaka, Juan Mejia, Iselda Montano, Carlotta Olguin, Gary Smith and Fluvia Soto
