Arnold Spielberg, was recently presented with the Spirit of America Award by the Jewish War Veterans of USA Department of California, for his World War II accomplishments, at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles.
Spielberg served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945. He was a Master Sergeant and a Communications Chief. His tour of duty included China, Burma and India, where he was assigned to the 490 th Bombardment Squadron flying B25s.
Spielberg was awarded a Bronze Star for Innovations in Communications
Spielberg is not the only well-known, respected member of his family. He is the father of director
Steven Spielberg.
The event was co-hosted by
Col. Joseph Smith, Los Angeles County Director of Veterans
Affairs.
Jewish War Veterans member Tibor Rubin, most recent recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, was also honored at this time.
Steve Rosmarin, JWV Department of California Commander served as Master
of Ceremonies.

an American Flag that had recently flown over the White House
