Best Beaches for Kids in L.A.
Contributed by: Eric Naftulin on 5/23/2008

Summer's coming . . . so it's time to head to the beach! And if you're looking for a great family beach with sparkling sand, clean water, gentle surf, spotless restrooms and more, have we got a gem for you . . . beautiful Paradise Cove, Malibu!

A private beach enclave that's open to the pubic, it'll run you about $30 to get in. But it's worth every penny! Paradise Cove is ideal for families with young kids because it's a guard-gated, safe, small and secure. You don't have to worry too much about your little ones getting lost or wandering off since there's not too much room for them to go. You can even rent your own beach cabana for extra privacy!

But there's so much more to Paradise Cove than swimming and sunbathing. Your kids can go fishing off the pier, take a beach hike, go boogie boarding, and explore the adjacent tide pools and marine life. Don't be surprised if you see a celebrity or two during your visit -- Hollywood loves Paradise Cove as much as you will!

What if you're a busy parent who doesn't have time to take your kids to the beach? We've got a solution: Try a beach summer camp, where your kids can learn to surf, go boogie boarding, feed a starfish, make candy leis, study ocean safety and more.

Los Angeles has a number of beach camp opportunities you can choose for your kids. Aloha Beach Camp is based at Paradise Cove, and it's the first beach day camp designed to meeting the unique needs of younger kids ages 5, 6 and 7. You can get more information by calling (818) 932-4600.

Aloha Beach Camp isn't the only beach camp available, but it's the only one based at Paradise Cove. If you're interested in reaching other beach camps, we recommend contacting the American Camp Association to find an accredited camp. When you choose a camp accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), you can be sure the camp meets or exceeds up to 300 best-practice industry standards relating to camper health and safety, supervision, staffing, transportation, quality and more.

So if you live in L.A. or you'll be visiting the City of Angels soon -- and if you're looking for a safe and fun summer beach camp for your kids this year -- don't miss Paradise Cove in Malibu...

... It's a terrific way to spend a summer's day!
