Contributed by: Mary Hubbard on 4/11/2008

Capt. William Scott of the LAPD reported that property crime is the biggest problem for the police patrol in Sylmar during a recent Sylmar Woman's Club meeting..

He warned of people casually leaving purses in supermarket carts.

The captain said he misses the sense of home he had when assigned to the Mission Division, but is enjoying his new position in the LAPD Office of Operations in Los Angeles.

Capt. Scott is a Valley resident.

During the same meeting, Duffy Walton of Alcoa Systems spoke of the grant he has received from Alcoa for his work with the "Adopt-A- Green Bag "program.

This is a wonderful way to help the homeless. After participants fill green cloth bags with appropriate items for the homeless, Duffy brings these bags to Skid Row residents. He presents his important program to groups and is available at: duffy.walton@alcoa.com

Don't forget the Sylmar Woman's Club Fashion Show and Boutique at the Odyssey on May 3.

Tickets are $30 for the luncheon and are available from members.

Theraffles and boutique shopare open to all.
