Valentine's Day just wasn't the same at West Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center this Feb. 14.
Last year, we hosted the King and Queen of Hearts Celebration. Our "
Jane Russell look-alike,"
Bea Fisher, and our "
George Hamilton-tanned"
Harold Blatt, were heirs to the Valentine throne, adorned with crown and scepter.
This year, the Los Angeles Laker Girls decided to give us some love. With colorful purple and yellow posters, their objective was to personally autograph and hand-deliver these photographs to each and every one of our 145 residents.
Needless to say, our community was bouncing, as our Laker Girls had their eye on the ball.
The Director of Marketing and Admissions
Marian Caloz stated, "In the Valley, our rehabilitation center is second to none, with our recently acquired all brand new state-of-the-art Nautilus equipment in our gym. Our doctors' directives are pretty aggressive, for they want our residents to return to their loved ones as soon as possible. Talk about team spirit! I have never before witnessed such an elevated level of camaraderie amongst our community. From our extremely popular open houses, resident fashion shows, candlelight dinners, holiday carolers, gospel singers, string quartets and celebrity visitations, one could not ask for more."
Just as the Laker Girls gave their all, in a one-on-one to each resident, so do our doctors, during their frequent visits. Their bedside manner scores a win every time.
With such a phenomenally successful Valentine's Day, our community continues to be filled with love. Our nursing and professional staff do not view their daily work as a job, but rather, as a true vocation.
This story is dedicated to you, Laker Girls, with a huge thank you. Keep well.
