Twelve adults became Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Congregation Or Ami in May.
The class included three Jews by Choice (converts to Judaism), two Persian women who grew up not being allowed to touch the Torah, two parents who wanted to experience what their children will be doing in the coming year, a mother who will share a B'nai Mitzvah ceremony with her two children next week, and an elementary school teacher who decided to become the student.
