Local residents win Ner Ami Innovator Award
Contributed by: Lisa Horwitz on 5/19/2008

The Ner Ami Innovator Award was presented to Calabasas residents Andy Krasnoff, Michael Kaplanand Darryl Lieberstein, and Oak Park resident Fariba Cooper for their creation of Congregation Or Ami's "Seder in the Wilderness" program.

Now in its fourth year, the retreat brings more than 315 participants to Malibu Creek State Park for a weekend of camping, campfire services
and a "Reliving the Exodus" program.

In presenting the award, Rabbi Paul Kipnes and President Susan Gould
noted that the four awardees transformed the usually staid community seder into a multi-generational, multi-media outdoor experience that returns participants to their roots as wanderers in the wilderness.
