The Rotary Club of Sherman Oaks Sunset is gearing up for its inaugural H2Oaks Clean Clear Water Festival to be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.Sunday, April 27.
The family-friendly event will take place at the MTA's Park-and-Ride facility, just west of Sepulveda Boulevard on Erwin Street, two blocks north of Oxnard Street.
The festival includes the dedication of three Aqua Filtration Units, aleady installed into storm drains at this location. These units filtereverything - from trash to motor oil - out of the runoff, allowing nothing through but H2O.
Invented by
C. Raymond Ledsworth
of Global H2O Solutions, the inland installation will have the positive effect of reducing the pollution at our beaches - in fact, beaches around the world -as our trash gets swept up in the current and deposited as far away as Hawaii.
The festival will include food, a 110-foot slide, live music, pet adoption, a tree adoption provided by the office of Mayor
Antonio Villaraigosa
, as part of the One Million Trees initiative, music, learning and fun.
Los Angeles City Councilmember
Wendy Greuel
and California State Assemblymember
Mike Feuer
have confirmed their attendance, and other dignitaries are expected to come enjoy this fun-filled day that brings an exciting climax to the end of Earth Day Week.
The Rotary Club of Sherman Oaks Sunset is a proud member of Rotary International, the 103-year-old service organization perhaps best known for the virtual eradication of polio worldwide.
The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.
