Premier America Credit Union's Business Services Team is sponsoring a free Shredding and e-Waste recycling service from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sep. 13.

Members of the credit union and the community can bring sensitive documents and unwanted electronics for secure destruction and recycling.

Documents such as company papers and confidential financial records, whether stapled, clipped or bound, will be destroyed on site and a certificate of destruction will be provided.

Electronic e-waste components such as monitors (CRT's), computers, hard drives, office machinery, televisions, cell phones and toner cartridges will be properly disposed of as determined by the Electronic Recycling Act of California.

"Proper disposal of sensitive materials is critical to the prevention of identity theft," said James Ritter, vice president and manager of business services for Premier America. "All of the shredded paper will be recycled which has the added benefit of helping the environment. Also, getting rid of unwanted electronics in a manner required by state regulations can remove hard-to-dispose of clutter from businesses and homes."

Shredding will be done at the Chatsworth branch, located at 19867 Prairie St., Chatsworth. No appointment is necessary, but there is a limit of 20 boxes of shredding and e-waste.
