Got too much brown but not enough green?
Ditch that brown by coming to the Guadalupe Community Center on Sunday, Jan. 13, to pick up a free fruit tree for your front or backyard. The trees come bare root and ready to plant. Who knows, with a little bit of your time - and don't forget the love - you could have a beautiful source of fresh, refreshing fruit to last you for years to come.
Fruits are an essential part of a healthy diet and they provide a tremendous resource for the community.
The free tree giveaway event is a collaboration between TreePeople, Girl Scouts of the San Fernando Valley, the Guadalupe Community Center and the CommunityRedevelopment Association - Los Angeles.
The event is also a Gold Award Project for Girl Scout Kayla Imhoff, and local residents can get one free apple, apricot, plum, nectarine or peach tree.
Call Kayla Imhoff at (818) 841-9023 to reserve your free fruit tree. Trees are limited and the limit is one per adult.
The Guadalupe Community Center is located at 21600 Hart St. in Canoga Park and can be reached by calling (818) 340-2050.
**Also, another free fruit tree giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, January 19th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sepulveda Recreation Center located at 8801 Kester Ave. in Panorama City. For more information, call Jose Sandoval at (818) 984-2133 or visit
