Mountains Restoration Trust (MRT) has many volunteer efforts located in beautiful settings during September that help restore the mountain habitat for wildlife and recreational enjoyment:
Sunday, Sept. 15, 8 a.m. - Dry Canyon Creek Habitat Restoration. Come join the community effort to restore a headwater ecosystem at Headwaters Corner in Calabasas. Saturday, Sept. 29, 8 a.m. -
OakTree Restoration/ Commemorative Oaks Enjoying a morning in Malibu Creek State Park while removing non-native plants and watering oak tree seedlings and native bunch grasses so they can survive this drought year and restore life, beauty and habitat. Saturday, Sept. 30, 8 a.m. - Help restore the life in one of the mountain's riparian rich habitats,
Cold Creek Preserve. The creek-side restoration work in a natural garden setting will bring back native trees and California bunch grasses. Community service credit available.This event is three hours. Reservations required. To make a reservation, call (818) 591-1701, ext. 203.
MRT preserves, protects and enhances public enjoyment of the Santa Monica Mountains through land acquisition, restoration, research, education and recreation. Headwater Corners Interpretive Center offers youth and adult recreational, educational and volunteer programs.
