On March 17, 40 students, parents, and teachers gathered on the Kittridge Elementary School campus to beautify the school by planting flowers and seeds in the garden and the entryway.
Donations were made by Costco, Target and Starbucks to help with the purchase of flowers, potting soil, seeds, as well as snacks for the students and coffee for the adults.
The students participated in the service learning project in order to instill a sense of pride in their campus. Principal
Joan Blair supported the staff who coordinated the project, teachers
Miguel Garza,
Veronika Maronyan,
Oscar Sandoval,
Erisha Spotville and
Alba Vargas by also contributing to the project's fund.
The students worked on cleaning the garden, planting flowers and vegetable seeds. They, along with parent volunteers, will maintain the upkeep during the school week.
