Students at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School in West Hills will welcome their family and friends to campus on Thursday, May 22, for the annual Spring Sing and Open House, beginning at 7 p.m.

Students in grades K-6 will showcase their singing and performing talents with a spirited musical presentation titled "God's Wonderful Dream."

"As part of their music classes at SOV, the students have been preparing for Spring Sing for the past few months," said Joan Vos, music teacher. "They are all very excited to perform for their parents and guests."

Immediately following the Spring Sing, Shepherd of the Valley's teachers and students will welcome parents and guests into their classrooms, where student artwork and class work will be on display.

"This event is always a highlight and the students love to show off all the projects they've created," said sixth-grade teacher Jennifer Farrell. "Every classroom is uniquely decorated and a joy to visit."

For example, in the sixth grade, students will display their country reports, which have been worked on and prepared over the course of the school year. While in fourth grade, students will display their brochures of California Missions. All classes will have student artwork and class work displayed prominently.

"There is no better night to visit our campus," said Bryan Woken, senior pastor of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, which operates the school. "To see the students perform and then share their academic and artistic achievements in the classroom is a testament to the quality education we provide."

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School is located at 23838 Kittridge St., West Hills.

The school is now enrolling for the 2008-2009 school year for preschool through sixth-grade students.
