The Day is Done....

My house and I have settled down,
retreated into quiet time.
Thanksgiving Day is done.

A swish and hum is telling me
my Kenmore kitchen help still labors,
making clean the dish and spoon and fork
and glass and cup and all I'll use tomorrow
and another tomorrow
and another.

The voices that I love,
that I have loved through many years,
are traveling back across the miles few and many
that had brought them
and their lives back home....
back home to me....
for yet another feast.
A feast of meats and vegetables to them;
A feast of love and warmth and happiness to me.

Those dear familiar faces earn my "thanks"!
Their hugs, their smiles, warm my house and warm my heart.
The sweet memories they toss upon the table,
throw back and forth among them,
tell me once again that my life, shared with them,
is all I had hoped and prayed....
yes, REALLY prayed....
it would prove with time to be.

I am content with this moment....
with this day....
with my life.
And I give thanks.
