Making excuses for bad behavior
Contributed by: William Kus   on 4/21/2008

I don't know how often people manufacture reasons for why they act a certain way.

People don't realize that they are not excuses in their actions because somebody else acted a certain way.

Bad behavior is bad behavior.

It can't be excused by saying, "Well this person did this, so it's ok to torment them for as long as I want."

Bad behavior is bad behavior. Sin is sin. You can't say it'sOK to hurt someone because they hurt someone else. But that is how the world works.

We all rationalize and justify poor behavior by conjuring reasons why a person "deserves" it.

Well that makes the person just as bad as the person they are trying to punish. Maybe the person you are persecuting had the same reason you do for doing whatever it was they did.

Maybe they didn't do anything at all and someone just decided to lie about what they did and then spread rumors all around.

There's never an excuse for bad behavior.

I don't excuse myself and I don't excuse others.

I pray there is a God and people are judged fairly when all is said and done.

The two bright spots I got from jail were finding God and quitting weed. There are more bright spots since I try to look at things in a positive manner, although sometimes I get a little negative.

Another positive was that I was humbled and was able to see things from the lowest level possible. I am able to mingle with homeless and other folks, much like Jesus did.

It seems a stint in jail is typical of people in the Bible. So it is strange that we stygmatize them so much.

My favorite quote of Jesus is "They hated me for no reason."

People try so hard to be liked and be in all the social circles. But from mybrief study of the Bible, it clearly says that being part of the world and being liked by people is the worst thing you can do.

The world is evil. Being on the fringes is a good thing, much like Jesus and his followers were. That is one of the few things that makes me feel better.

In jail, I prayed a lot. Now that I'm not in jail my faith wavers and I get caught up in the normal chores of wanting to live and have a good time.

I never believed it before until I was at rock bottom. But prayer really worked and I truly believe in the power of God and Jesus.

Although it still seems a bit strange to me. I think there is too much reliance on the Bible, which was written by man hundreds of years after the events described.

But that is heretical talk and I'm glad to have found God. But the Bible even has passages speaking against scriptures and how they are too structured.

Jesus was constantly at odds with many scriptures and traditions as well as the Pharisees who were the experts on religious law.

We need to do our own soul searching and talk personally to God, something the church is often times at odds with.

How can we possibly understand God and how do we know who speaks for Him and who doesn't?

Even the Bible says that this world is ruled by evil. If that is, so then it would make more sense that the "devil" would be trying to trick us into thinking things that aren't true.

How often have bad things been perpetrated in the name of the God in direct contradiction to living a life of "love."

How can there be any way to put into words the intentions of a Someone that is greater than our brains could possibly fathom.

We trust too much in words and not in actions.

Who can speak for God but God.

Who's to say God doesn't speak through me or anyone else for that matter. God speaks through all of us, why does one person's opinion matter more than anyone else's?

Wow I always start on one subject and go onto something else. I just like to type.
